TYR was established in 1985 in Huntington Beach, California. Together, founders Steve Furniss and Joseph DiLorenzo wanted to create fun, fashionable, performance-driven sport swimwear. Furniss is an Olympic medalist and was captain of the 1976 U.S.A. Olympic swim team, while DiLorenzo is the owner and president of TYR Sport, Inc. and sister company, Swimwear Anywhere Inc. Their triathlon/swimming garments are worn by Olympic champions and dedicated amateurs around the globe, in over 40 international markets.
